MINUTES OF THE PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING AT 6.30PM ON 21 MARCH 2023 (printed copy available by request)

St Peter’s 165 Years milestone: Bishop Terry is coming to the 11.30am Mass on Sunday 2 July for a Mass of Thanksgiving. Discussion to explore the possibility of twinning with a parish overseas. Possible display of photos (ask parishioners to submit photos). Feature on Newsletter/Website/Facebook page of photos and short summary of the different groups in the Scarborough parishes, inc. Union of Catholic Mothers, Legion of Mary, SVP, Warm Spaces group, Divine Mercy Group, Mothers’ Prayers group, Emmaus group, Alive group, Childrens’ choir, Catechists, Sacristans, Governors to the Schools, Holy shop personnel, and refreshments provision groups.
St Joseph’s Baby Window and Remembrance Chapel: Baby window is proving to be a good addition and is bringing comfort to anyone whose child/baby/unborn baby has died. Remembrance chapel plaques will cost £35 each, to be made and placed on the chapel wall.
Coronation of King Charles III 5 May 2023: Prayers & Mass will be offered by the Catholic community across the country.
Coronation Parish Picnic celebration: To be held in the grounds of St Peter’s School on Monday 8 May from 1.30pm to 4pm in honour of the Coronation of King Charles III. To include bouncy castle, magic show face painting. People to bring own food and drink.
Parish Financial Report: The Income and Expenditure Account for the year ended 31 December 2022 was tabled and briefly discussed.
Mission Statement: Members were asked to think about this and submit a suggested wording.
